Covered Wagon Natural Bridge

The Covered Wagon Natural Bridge is yet another spot to add to the long, long list of great things to see in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. If you have read any of our other posts, you will know we absolutely love this region. If you forced me to pick a favorite area in all of Utah, I would pick this one.

The hike itself is simple and has classic views of the Straight Cliffs, a beautiful length of ribboned pattern cliffs. You will hike down to the landmark. A bridge is an arch-like formation that is formed by running water. You can really see how the water has flowed to create this, even more so if you continue on to the space that resembles a cave. I definitely would not want to be in this spot if the water was raging through.

Difficulty: Easy to mild.

Trail Stats: 0.4 miles, out and back, 45 feet elevation gain.

Trail Finding: Relatively easy.

Conditions: Sand, rock.

Would I Repeat This: Possibly, but I feel like there is so much more I need to see and do here!

Parking: Yes.

Timing: If water is flowing, don’t enter the bridge.
