Moon Caves
Description
The Moon Caves hike in Cathedral Gorge State Park is a fascinating landscape.
We used to live near the Mississippi River, with lots of time spent on sand bars. Our kids would grab a handful of wet sand and water and let it drip from their closed fist. They would make these towers of muddy sand, which is exactly what I am reminded of when wandering around the Moon Caves trail.
You will park your car and basically already be at these crazy muddy looking monoliths. The trail will take you into them and to an overlook. I recommend taking the offshoots and go into the little dead ends of the slot-like pathways.
