Box Canyon
Description
Just when you think you have seen it all, Box Canyon within Maple Canyon recreation area throws a big geological surprise at you. We have hiked so many trails since our western adventure started five years ago. I was taken aback at how beautiful, unique, and totally different this canyon was.
You will immediately enter into this slot canyon, whose entire walls are formed from conglomerate rock. This type of rock is composed of many different pieces, sizes, and colors of rocks that have been cemented together. It creates a really unusual texture, and really cool visual landscape.
Wander back Box Canyon. If you are up for some crawling over and under some large boulders, we heard there was a small waterfall at the end of the canyon. Dwindling daylight prompted our departure from the canyon.
