Black Sand Basin
Description
This past Fall Break, we drove north to explore Yellowstone National Park. Black Sand Basin Trail was one of the first things we did.
This trail is more of what would be described as a scenic walk. Nonetheless, it was beautiful and a must-see. The boardwalk winds through a portion of Yellowstone’s Upper Geyser Basin. The close proximity of the numerous geysers and pools on both sides of the boardwalk made it easy to view the colors and textures of these geothermal wonders.
When we went, the morning air was crisp and cold. With the lower ambient temperature in the morning, the steam plumes were incredible. It was like we were walking through clouds or we were on another planet. Though this trail was an easy walk, it felt immersive and magical.
